GOAL: Follow the situation on the ground in order to determine the course of development and action in detail, improve sustainable development of rural areas of Banja Luka by implementing own development model based on certified “green” entrepreneurship and similar EU experiences. OBJECTIVE: Increase the number of profitable, ecologically acceptable and socially justified SMEs in rural areas of Banja Luka. CURRENT STEPS TOWARDS THE PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION: Drafting the study for the purpose of valuation of natural and newly-created resources in rural areas of Banja Luka and initiation of positive economic and social effects related to the development of agricultural, processing and tourist companies. A team of experts from the RS Urbanism Institute A.D. Banja Luka, as the body responsible for the Study, will undertake necessary activities in the field of tourism, agriculture, economy, spatial planning, forestry, ecology, urbanism, applied hydraulics, traffic, electricity supply and telecommunications, geology, geodesy, law and IT. PRIORITIES Priority 1 - Adjustment of farming structures,
- Investments in farming households,
- Agricultural production directed towards the preservation of environment and rural scenery,
- Support to the establishment and management of estates,
- Improvement of cultivated areas and division of plots,
- Establishment of land registry office,
- Improvement of vocational education,
- Water management,
- Forestry, foresting, and investing in private-owned forests.
Priority 2 - Food industry, quality, health, market entry,
- Processing and trade in agricultural products,
- Quality control structures, veterinary and sanitary supervision, border control,
- Establishing, organising manufacturers, co-operatives, associations, networks...
Priority 3 - Development of rural areas,
- Development and introduction of new economic activities for the purpose of creating additional source of income,
- Reconstruction and development of villages and preservation of rural legacy,
- Development and improvement of rural infrastructure,
- Handicraft in rural areas for the purpose of creating additional source of income.
Priority 4 - Development of rural ecological tourism,
- Possibility of developing ecological tourism checkpoints,
- Development of environmental ecology and architecture,
- Development of tourist component of rural households,
- Development of tourist infrastructure in rural areas,
- Standardisation, classification and labelling rural households.
5 sites as rural development pilot projects: 1. International Centre Krupa na Vrbasu, 2. Tourist and Catering Establishment Kameni most – Krupa na Vrbasu, 3. Stričići – Sport and Recreational Establishment, 4. Agricultural and Educational Centre, Zone and Rancher Settlement Dobrnja, 5. Tourist and Recreational Centre of Ethno-Village Čokorska polja.
